Juicy Juice
OK, So after the 90 days ( and a few non raw meals at the end while on vacation) I tired going back to cooked food here and there.
Yeah. Other than some hummus, R. Thomas food and some rice, my body was not ready for it.
So now I am incorporating more juice into my menu. I am going to try to do all juice/ liquids/smoothies for a week and go from there. I understand that people do not drink smoothies with lots of fats on the juice feast... but I think I am going to listen to my body for clues....
Yesterday was the first day and last night was hard. We went out, unexpectedly, to meet some friends, and there was a lot of people in a party/club atmosphere which always makes me want to go to R. Thomas and eat cooked food. And after drinking juice all day it was all the more difficult to resist the yummy cooked goodness! Their red beans and quinoa and the veggie burger are too amazing!
What I had yesterday: (I have a huge servings of each of these - except the cantaloupe juice.)
Citrus detox juice
Carrot & apple juice
Salad in a Glass: tomatoes, garlic, cucumber, spinach, red chard, parsley & a twist of lime
1/2 of a Cantaloupe juice (rind and all - delicious.)
And I did go to R Thomas and picked up the Energy Soup Smoothie: Avocado, apple, sunflower sprouts, dulse & mixed greens. When I arrived at home, I added a little sea salt and cayenne pepper. Oh! So! GOOD!
I was starving when I picked up the energy soup around 12:30 AM. Normally, I am not hungry at all then, but I think the first day of drinking nothing but juice on top of the triggers made me hungry. After a few sips of the Energy Soup I was fantastic.

I have always wanted to go to an all raw food diet, but I just dont have the strength.. nor do I have any clue where to start.
I imagine the detox your body goes through isnt fun, but the benefits are great. Good for you! Youre my hero!! Hahaha.
It was a long time coming for me.
We have all had "Raw or living foods" and don't even think about it. When I first went to a restaurant in Philly which was all vegan and some raw, I looked at the raw pizza and raw soup and turned up my nose. I tried it and hated it! "I'll take my things cooked, thank you." is what I thought.
Then I moved here and had some medical issues which left me feeling like crap. I was a junk food vegan and that didn't help either. I had to have an operation and convalesced for a couple months and after that I tried going raw for 30 days. It was miraculous. I felt amazing. Then I went back to making poor choices... (I do make the best vegan biscuits -n- gravy in the south, I assure you! I have eaten enough to feed the whole of Georgia!)
So a few months ago I revisited it. I researched on-line and read some great cookbooks. (Luckily, I love to create in the kitchen, so the transition was not a hardship) I decided that I should try it again for 90 days. Well... It has been really great! The detox was weird - I smelled bad and was breaking out, but I felt really good. I would tell you to try adding more raw to your diet with at least one meal totally raw and go from there. The benefits are drastic from being 50 or 80% raw to 100% raw. My body just adapted to really craving raw foods.
I think you need to prepare yourself mentally, emotionally and spiritually to do it first, then it become a joy, not a chore. I say try it for a few day, maybe even over a weekend. Try a really exotic recipe and some really great salads. See how you feel...
